TOWN OF STONEWALL - COUNCIL MEETING

April 14, 2026, 6:30 P.M.

The Stonewall Town Hall Council met in regular session with 11 visitors present. The meeting was called to order at 6:30 PM. A roll call was taken. Council Members present were Margaret Dickerson, Robert Baker, Don Crosslin, Eric Runge, and Brandon Garsee. Also present were Mayor Ken Kaffka and Attorney Josh Chevallier. Council Member Eric Runge led the prayer. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Council Member Margaret Dickerson.

ADDITION/DELETION: None

PUBLIC COMMENT: Robby Latham requested that the Town of Stonewall consider asking the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LaDOTD) to conduct a speed study on Highway 171.

MINUTES: A motion to approve March 10, 2026, regular meeting minutes was made by Council Member Margaret Dickerson, seconded by Council Member Robert Baker. 5 YEAS, 0 NAYS, 0 ABSENT. Motion carried.

REPORTS

(b) BUDGET COMPARISON: Budget Comparison for July 1, 2025, through March 30th, 2026, was reviewed and discussed. Council Member Margaret Dickerson made a motion to accept as printed, seconded by Council Member Robert Baker. 5 YEAS, 0 NAYS, 0 ABSENT. Motion carried.

(c) OTHER: None.

(d) GRANTS: None.

(e) PARK: None.

(f) REIMBURSEMENT: Recommend ratifying the reimbursement to Brenda Tauzin for her cleaning deposit. Council Member Brandon Garsee made a motion to approve, seconded by Council Member Robert Baker. 5 YEAS, 0 NAYS, 0 ABSENT. Motion carried.

(g) LEGAL REPORT: None.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

A) None

NEW BUSINESS:

A) Recommend approving the new Alcohol Permit for 2Bird’s, pending state approval. Discussion Followed. Council Member Don Crosslin made a motion to approve, seconded by Council Member Brandon Garsee. 4 YEAS, 1 NAYS, 0 ABSENT. Motion carried

B) Introduction to Ordinance Number 158-2026: AN ORDINANCE TO ACCEPT THE STREET RIGHT-OF-WAYS AND SERVITUDES FOR UTILITIES AND DRAINAGE WITHIN MCCUNE FARMS SUBDIVISION. Council Member Brandon Garsee made a motion to introduce, seconded by Council Member Eric Runge. 5 YEAS, 0 NAYS, 0 ABSENT. Motion carried.

C) Recommend approving A RESOLUTION FOR THE GRANTING OF A VARIANCE OF THE ZONING AND SUBDIVISION ORDINANCES OF THE TOWN OF STONEWALL FOR THE STONE GROVESUBDIVISION LOCATED WITHIN THE MUNICIPAL BOUNDARIES OF THE TOWN OF STONEWALL. Council Member Brandon Garsee made a motion to approve, seconded by Council Member Robert Baker. 5 YEAS, 0 NAYS, 0 ABSENT. Motion carried.

D) Jim Snyder Parish Pools: Discuss the splash pad scope of work. Discussion followed. No decision was made as the town is waiting on bids for the project.  

E) Discuss and make recommendations to approve the lowest responsible quote to mow & weed-eat the Community Center Park old Town Hall properties, contingent on proof of appropriate insurance. Discussion followed. Council Member Brandon Garsee made a motion to recommend requesting additional information before any votes.

 

Council Member Robert Baker made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Council Member Eric Runge. 5 YEAS, 0 NAYS, 0 ABSENT. Motion carried.
