TOWN OF STONEWALL – PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION

1746 US HIGHWAY 171 STONEWALL, LOUISIANA 71078: JULY 16, 2026, 6:00 P.M.

The Stonewall Planning & Zoning (P&Z) Commission met with 3 visitors. The members present were Charles Watson, Pat Jones, Craig Roberson, Jody Raney, and Kirk Dickson. P&Z Members absent were Jeanene Sanders-Wiggins and John Alvarez. Also present was Mayor Randy Rodgers.  

Motion to dispense with the reading of June 25, 2026, minutes and adoption was made by P&Z Member Craig Roberson with the following corrections: “Spelling correction of P&Z Member Jeanene Sanders-Wiggins' name in the first paragraph, and New Business, Item B was seconded by P&Z Member Jeanene Sanders-Wiggins,” and seconded by P&Z Member Pat Jones. 5 YEAS, 0 NAYS, 2 ABSENT. Motion carried.

REPORTS: None.

PUBLIC COMMENT:

OLD BUSINESS:

A) Continue the discussion on updating Town Ordinances that involve the Planning & Zoning Committee. Discussions followed. No action was taken.

NEW BUSINESS:

A) Recommendation and approval of the appointment of the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Planning and Zoning Committee. Discussion followed. Pat Jones recommended Jody Raney as Chairman and Jody Raney recommended Pat Jones as Vice Chairman effective August 2026. P&Z Member Pat Jones made a motion to approve the appointments, seconded by P&Z Member Craig Roberson. 5 YEAS, 0 NAYS, 2 ABSENT. Motion carried.

B) Brassica Farms Variance: Discuss, make a motion, and take action. Discussion followed. P&Z Member Jody Raney made a motion to give a 30-day variance to Brassica Farms exterior design completion, seconded by P&Z Member Craig Roberson. 5 YEAS, 0 NAYS, 2 ABSENT. Motion carried.

C) Recommendation and approval of the Settlement Estate Phase 2 plat. P&Z Member Kirk Dickson recused himself due to being part-owner. Discussion followed. P&Z Member Craig Roberson made a motion to approve with a notation added to the plat for an easement, seconded by P&Z Member Jody Raney. 4 YEAS, 1 RECUSE, 2 ABSENT. Motion carried.

Motion to adjourn the meeting was made by P&Z Member Pat Jones.
