TOWN OF STONEWALL – PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION

1746 US HIGHWAY 171 STONEWALL, LOUISIANA 71078: SEPTEMBER 17, 2026, 6:00 P.M.

The Stonewall Planning & Zoning (P&Z) Commission met with 9 visitors. The members present were John Alvarez, Pat Jones, Jeanene Sanders-Wiggins, Jody Raney, Kirk Dickson, and Kerry Staniford. Also present was Mayor Randy Rodgers and Attorney Dakota Hawkins. P&Z Member Craig Roberson resigned September 16, 2026.

Motion to dispense with the reading of August 20, 2026, minutes and adoption was made by P&Z Member Pat Jones, and seconded by P&Z Member Jeanene Sanders-Wiggins. 6 YEAS, 0 NAYS, 0 ABSENT. Motion carried.

REPORTS: None.

PUBLIC COMMENT: None.

OLD BUSINESS: None.

 NEW BUSINESS:

A) Recommend approving the Construction Plans, Unit 1, & Unit 2 Plats for Stone Grove Subdivision. Discussion followed. P&Z Member Kirk Dickson made a motion to approve with a drainage study being done, seconded by P&Z Member Pat Jones. 6 YEAS, 0 NAYS, 0 ABSENT. Motion carried.  

B) Make a recommendation to the Town Council to amend the Subdivision Ordinance. Discussion followed. P&Z Member John Alvarez made a motion to table, seconded by P&Z Member Jeanene Sanders-Wiggins. 6 YEAS, 0 NAYS, 0 ABSENT. Motion carried.

C) Make a recommendation to the Town Council to amend the Zoning Ordinance. Discussion followed. P&Z Member Kirk Dickson made a motion to table, seconded by P&Z Member Kerry Staniford. 6 YEAS, 0 NAYS, 0 ABSENT. Motion carried.

D) Rezone the DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Government Plaza property located at 1746 US Hwy 171, Stonewall, LA to SG-O District. The SG-O District is multipurpose that includes governmental type facilities such as the Town Hall, Library, Town Parks, Fire Department, etc. Discussion followed. P&Z Member Pat Jones made a motion to approve, seconded by P&Z Member John Alvarez. 6 YEAS, 0 NAYS, 0 ABSENT. Motion carried.

E) Updates & Discussion.

Motion to adjourn the meeting was made by P&Z Member Pat Jones, seconded by Kirk Dickson.
