Town of Stonewall

 

The Stonewall Town Council met during a regular session with 4 visitors. A roll call was taken, council members present were Margaret Dickerson, Robert Baker, Eric Runge, Brandon Garsee, and Don Crosslin. Mayor Ken Kaffka was also present. Prayer was led by Council Member Margaret Dickerson. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Council Member Don Crosslin.

ADDITION/DELETION: None.

PUBLIC COMMENT: Michael Norton, DeSoto Parish Police Jury Administrator, updated the council regarding the debris removal.

MINUTES: A motion to approve June 11, 2024, regular meeting minutes was made by Council Member Margaret Dickerson, seconded by Council Member Robert Baker. 5 YEAS, 0 NAYS, 0 ABSENT. Motion carried.

REPORTS

(a) ROADS: Mayor Kaffka stated that they have completed Rambin Road intersection and will be doing a walk-through in the morning.

(b) BUDGET COMPARISON: Budget Comparison for July 1, 2023, through June 30, 2024, was reviewed and discussed. Council Member Brandon Garsee made a motion to accept as printed, seconded by Council Member Margaret Dickerson. 5 YEAS, 0 NAYS, 0 ABSENT. Motion carried.

(c) OTHER: Councilman Baker mentioned that he received a call that SWEPCO would be clearing the fence row on Baker Road.

(d) GRANTS: None.

(e) PARK: None.

(f) REIMBURSEMENT: Tomika Carroll, Reservation Fee. Discussion followed. Council Member Brandon Garsee, made a motion to reimburse Ms. Carroll, seconded by Council Member Robert Baker. 5 YEAS, 0 NAYS, 0 ABSENT. Motion carried.

OLD BUSINESS: None.

NEW BUSINESS:

a) Introduction of Ordinance No. 143-2024: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 139-2024 ON JANUARY 9, 2024, TO MODIFY THE BOUNDARIES OF STONEWALL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DISTRICT A; AUTHORIZE THE EXECUTION OF A COOPERATIVE ENDEAVOR AGREEMENT; AND PROVIDING FOR OTHER MATTERS IN CONNECTION THEREWITH. The title was read by Mayor Kaffka. Council Member Brandon Garsee, made a motion to introduce, seconded by Council Member Eric Runge. 5 YEAS, 0 NAYS, 0 ABSENT. Motion carried.
